In recent years environmental history has proven to be more than just a story, a story that transcends it. It gives us the opportunity to know the past to understand the present and rethink
our future. Given this, the present study examines the environmental history of Los Comondú oasis, BCS, Mexico. This place is home to the communities of San Jose and San Miguel de Comondú, from the early eighteenth century. Since then, agricultural activities have been the economic and cultural support, however, in recent years these efforts have been insufficient. Therefore, we propose the addition of two geotourism projects based on the principles established by a new tourist flow, geotourism. A tourism that seeks to highlight the geographical character of destinations. But how do you identify them? Environmental history will serve as a tool to answer the question and to discover a unique culture.

En los últimos años la historia ambiental ha demostrado ser más que sólo una historia; es una historia
que trasciende a la misma. Nos brinda la oportunidad de conocer el pasado, para entender el presente y
repensar nuestro futuro. Ante esto, el presente estudio analiza la historia ambiental del oasis de Los
Comondú, BCS, México. Este lugar alberga a las comunidades de San José y San Miguel de Comondú, desde principios del siglo XVIII. Desde entonces, las actividades agropecuarias han sido el sustento socioeconómico y cultural, sin embargo, en los últimos años estas actividades han sido insuficientes. Por esto, se propone la incorporación de dos proyectos geoturÃsticos, basados en los principios establecidos por una nueva corriente turÃstica, el geoturismo. Un turismo que busca resaltar el carácter
geográfico de los destinos. Pero, ¿cómo se identifica?; la historia ambiental servirá como herramienta para responder la interrogante y asà descubrir una cultura inigualable.
