O SIGNIFICADO DA DOUTRINA DOS SETE PECADOS CAPITAIS NO VIRGEU DE CONSOLAÇON

Resumo Português:

Este estudo tem como objetivo mostrar o quanto a doutrina dos sete pecados capitais ainda se
mantinha com uma significativa importância para os monges da baixa Idade Média portuguesa,
especialmente os monges cistercienses presentes na abadia mais importante da ordem em solo português,
a abadia de Santa Maria de Alcobaça. Esta importância é averiguada através do estudo de um códice de
caráter doutrinário/disciplinar chamado Virgeu de Consolaçon, produzido e/ou copiado em Alcobaça
entre fins do século XV e início do século XVI. Sendo o mesmo ainda inédito em Portugal, este trabalho
também nos traz o seu histórico.

This study aims to show how the doctrine of the seven deadly sins still remained a sifnificant
importance to the monks of the late Middle Ages, especially the Cistercian monks present in the most
important ablly of the order on Portuguese land. The ablly of Santa Maria de Alcobaça. This importance
is inquired through the study of a doctrinal/disciplinary code called Virgeu de Consolaçon, produced
and/or copied in Alcobaça between the end of the XV century and the beginning of the XVI century.
Being the same still unpublished in Portugal, this study also brings us its historical.
