O presente artigo objetiva analisar a percepção dos formandos do Ensino Médio, Modalidade Normal, em Alagoa Grande, acerca da disciplina de Geografia, suas potencialidades e objetivos, a partir das experiências vivenciadas na disciplina, ainda no Ensino Fundamental, e na formação profissional oferecida pela Escola Normal. A pesquisa evidenciou as dificuldades encontradas no ensino-aprendizagem da Geografia, motivadas pela escolha inadequada das metodologias, num processo que se estende desde o Ensino Fundamental até o presente, requerendo dos professores uma maior reflexão sobre suas práxis. Também ficou claro que é de fundamental importância compreender as representações sociais dos alunos como aliadas no ensino, no intuito de que se perceba a importância do vivido nessa aprendizagem, como forma de entender-se melhor o mundo e suas múltiplas interações, numa proposta objetiva de ter-se uma Geografia mais humanista, fazendo com que a aprendizagem não seja alheia à vida dos alunos.

This article aims /to analyze the perceptions of high school graduates, Normal mode, in Alagoa Grande, about the discipline of geography, their strengths and goals, from experiences in the discipline, even in elementary school, and vocational training of fered by Normal School. The research showed the difficulties involved in teaching and learning of Geography, motivated by the inadequate choice of methods, a process that extends from elementary school to the present, requiring teachers a greaterreflection on their practice. It also became clear that it is of fundamental importance to understand the social representations of the students as allies in education, in order that they understand the importance of lived experience that learning as a way to understand yourself better the world and its multiple interactions, a proposal objective to have a more humanistic geography, so that learning is not alien to the lives of students.
