Raimundo Farias Brito foi um dos primeiros filósofos brasileiros a fazer uma apreciação crítica da filosofia de Bergson no começo do século XX. Sua confrontação com o pensamento de Bergson foi feita no contexto de seu livro O Mundo Interior, no qual ele tenta entender a posição de Bergson sobre a relação kantiana entre phainomenon e noumenon, no sentido de compreender a liberdade como fundamento da ação, e estabelece que a filosofia de Bergson é ainda uma filosofia fenomenista, no sentido de Hume, e por isso, ela não pode fornecer as bases para pensar a liberdade como fundamento da ação moral. Assim, este artigo pretende apresentar esta confrontação crítica feita por Farias Brito com a filosofia de Bergson.

Raimundo Farias Brito was one of the first Brazilian Philosophers who made a critical appreciation of Bergson’s Philosophy at the beginning of twentieth century. His confrontation with Bergson’s thinking was made in the context of his book O Mundo Interior (The Interior World), in which he tries to understand the Bergson’s position about the Kantian’s relation between phainomenon and noumenon, in the purpose to understand the freedom as ground of moral action. He establishes that Bergson’s Philosophy is still a phenomenist philosophy in Hume’s sense, and it cannot furnish a background to think the freedom as a ground for moral action. So, this article aims to present this critical confrontation made by Farias Brito with Bergson’s Philosophy.
