In the nursery of the Department of Forestry Sciences, UFSM, Santa Maria - RS, the development of canjerana (Cabralea glaberrima), under 0.25.50.70 and 80% shading. The experiment was installed in 1.50m X 1.0m X 0.70m long, height and width, respectively, with iron frame, plastic screen covers with different levels of shading, wrapped laterally with the same screen, three replicates and 30 individuals per plot. After 12 months, their final height, lap diameter and dry matter production were evaluated, when a statistically higher height was observed in seedlings under 70% and 80% shading. Equal results were obtained for the production of total dry matter at these levels, influenced by a higher shoot dry matter production, significantly higher than the other treatments. For the neck diameter, there was no significant difference between the treatments
