Em 1994 na Argentina foi aprovada a Lei 24.429 de serviço militar voluntário que substituiu o sistema de conscrição obrigatória criado em 1901. Sua concepção e implementação produziram mudanças significativas na definição das relações dos cidadãos com a defesa nacional e na organização das Forças Armadas.

In 1994 Argentina approved the Law 24.429 imposing the Voluntary Military Service which replaced the system of compulsory conscription created in 1901. This way to recruit troops produced significant changes in the relationship between citizens and
national defense affairs including the organization of the Armed Forces.
