A self-respecting chaplain must have empathy for others. Chaplaincy as a trade took place in the fourteenth century in the army and over time, it developed and spread to many other fronts. In simple language, chaplaincy from the point of view of the evangelical confession, is the assistance and execution of religious activities in asylums, military installations, schools, prisons, hospitals, orphanages and other organizations. Even before the pandemic that impacted and changed the world, thousands of people and family groups exhaled a certain need for a word of joy, of hope through a spiritual representative. The post pandemic has massively accentuated this need. The purpose of the chaplain is to help these people by bringing a “word” of encouragement and courage, of inspiration and hope in order to serve others with empathy and love. Advice, mentoring, prayer, friendship and presence are auxiliary devices in the chaplaincy task, which promotes trust and interaction between the chaplain and the person assisted. Chaplaincy from an evangelical Christian perspective is part of the ministerial call and therefore becomes a voluntary ministerial extension. In their actions it is a voluntary exercise, but certainly, to act as a chaplain (ã) it is necessary to have training, preferably with certification, since the task of chaplaincy involves ethical actions and, therefore, proven preparation is required. In this writing, we will see a synthesis in a practical qualitative plan of the actions and tasks of the chaplaincy comprising the most portrayed fronts in this scope. This article does not, under any circumstances, aim to cease the dividends of chaplaincy (it is not the proposal), but to present it in a practical way and based on bibliographical references, in order to equip ecclesiastical leaders and pastors in the service of chaplaincy.
