Os fatores de crescimento são substâncias presentes no nosso organismo que possuem uma função coadjuvante no processo de cicatrização e reparo tecidual, atuando na angiogênese e fibrogênese. Seu uso foi inserido na indústria cosmética partindo do princípio de que o processo de reparação tecidual na cicatrização se assemelha ao princípio do envelhecimento. Este artigo reuniu informações científicas a respeito da origem, função e caracterização dos fatores de crescimento, bem como a maneira como eles são utilizados no ramo da estética, sendo possível observar seu papel no envelhecimento cutâneo assim como na cicatrização, efeitos positivos na quimiotaxia celular e na proliferação de células epiteliais e fibroblastos. Entretanto, observa-se a necessidade de pesquisas mais aprofundadas acerca de seu benefício terapêutico e consequentemente estético, assim como possíveis efeitos colaterais a curto e longo prazo.
Growth factors are substances present in our body that play a supporting role in the healing and tissue repair process, acting in angiogenesis and fibrogenesis. Their use was introduced in the cosmetics industry based on the principle that the tissue repair process in healing is similar to the principle of aging. This article gathered scientific information about the origin, function and characterization of growth factors, as well as how they are used in the aesthetics field, and it is possible to observe their role in skin aging as well as in healing, positive effects on cell chemotaxis and proliferation of epithelial cells and fibroblasts. However, there is a need for more in-depth research on their therapeutic and consequently aesthetic benefits, as well as possible short- and long-term side effects.
