Visando contribuir para um melhor entendimento do processo logístico nas organizações hospitalares, este artigo objetivou identificar as estratégias logísticas utilizadas no segmento hospitalar. É um estudo de caso realizado por meio de observação in loco e entrevista com o sócio diretor do Hospital Nossa Senhora da Salete e com o responsável pelo departamento de compras, no segundo semestre de 2007. Alguns dos fatores de sucesso da nova gestão foram novos procedimentos tanto no atendimento aos clientes quanto no processo logístico, como: a forma como as projeções de compras são realizadas e a maneira de negociar com os seus fornecedores; mudança nos processos de armazenagem e distribuição. Foi possível observar que a logística é uma área que contribui para melhor coordenação de funções dentro das organizações, permitindo racionalizar custos sem detrimento de suas atividades, apresentando benefícios tanto para a administração e gestão, quanto aos responsáveis pela prestação dos serviços, sobretudo ao cliente.

This article had the objective of identify logistic strategies used at hospital segment, in order to contribute to the understanding of logistic process in this kind of organization. It is a case study realized through in loco observation and interview with the partner director and the responsible for the purchasing department of the Nossa Senhora da Salete Hospital. The interview was realized in the second half of 2007. Some success factors of new management were new procedures both in customer service as in the logistical process, such as: the way purchasing projections are realized and how to negotiate with suppliers; changing storage and distribution processes. It was possible to observe that logistic is an área that contributes to a better function coordination inside organizations, permitting to streamline costs without detriment of activities. It presents benefits for both the administration and management, as those responsible for the provision of services, especially to the client.
