Esse estudo tem, por objetivo, historiar a gênese do Instituto Teresa Valsé Pantellini em Uberlândia,
MG, com a finalidade de construir uma interpretação de seu aparelho educacional compreendido
entre os anos de 1959 Â data de sua instalação na cidade Â ao inÃcio de 1971, ano em que a escola
passou a admitir a matrÃcula de alunos do sexo masculino. Em sÃntese, tal pesquisa visou analisar a
construção de seu espaço fÃsico, a vida escolar, a participação da sociedade para a efetivação da
Instituição Â atualmente sediada na Avenida Mato Grosso, 1625, no Bairro Brasil Â e a contribuição
dessa escola para o desenvolvimento da cidade. Esta temática é considerada relevante por contribuir
com o conhecimento sobre o processo de construção das estruturas educacionais de Uberlândia.
Para tanto, foram privilegiadas as fontes documentais arquivadas na instituição, a imprensa local,
além das fontes obtidas através de entrevistas com as Irmãs salesianas, com os exÂalunos e com exÂ
professoras, protagonistas no perÃodo em apreço.
The aim of this article is to historify the genesis of Teresa Valsé Pantellini’s Institute in Uberlândia,
MG, with the intention to build an interpretation of its educational structure comprehended between
1959 Â date of its town settlement Â to the beginning of 1971, which is the year that registers the first
men students that have entered in the school. In synthesis, such research has analyzed the construction
of its physical space, the scholar life, the society’s participation and its effort to consolidate the
institution Â currently located at Avenida Mato Grosso, 1625, Bairro Brasil Â and the contribution of
this school to the development of Uberlândia. This theme is considered relevant due to contribute
for the knowledge about the process of construction of the educational structures in Uberlândia. In
such way, the historical resources located in the school were found in a way of privilege. Even the
local media, interviews with the salesian sisters, old students and old teachers have helped to construct
and build this analysis.
