This article discusses the absorption of European culture and its
problematization in a search for national culture in Los premios, by Julio
Cortázar. Based on characters‘ behaviours and on dialogues this analysis
also focus on Existentialist aspects which involve the plot. The discussion
about cultural homogenization and Existentialism contr ibutes to
demonstrate how identity concepts and philosophy can work together to
reach Cortázar‘s narrative context.
