Nos diferentes níveis de ensino da Educação Básica, pode-se constatar o crescimento do número de questionamentos e debates acerca das dificuldades e desafios que o ensino e aprendizagem da Matemática vêm sofrendo ao longo dos tempos, questionamentos esses que visam superar tais desafios que se apresentam, não só no ensino-aprendizagem da Matemática, mas nas demais áreas. Dentre distintas e atuais tendências, os diversos estudos levam a uma metodologia conhecida como “Modelagem Matemática”, uma alternativa pedagógica para o melhor ensino de Matemática. Tendo como tema "A Modelagem Matemática como metodologia alternativa no processo de ensino – aprendizagem da Matemática”, o presente artigo trata de uma metodologia alternativa que possibilite a aproximação entre teoria e prática, alicerçada na tendência Construtivista, na contextualização do ensino e no desenvolvimento de conceitos matemáticos significativos para os alunos da Educação Básica.

At different levels of education Basic Education, we can notice the growing number of inquiries and discussions about the difficulties and challenges that the teaching and learning of mathematics have suffered throughout the ages, these questions aimed at overcoming such challenges facing not only in the teaching and learning of mathematics, but in other areas. Among current trends and distinct, the various studies lead to a methodology known as "Mathematical Modeling", an alternative to the best pedagogical teaching of Mathematics. With the theme "A Mathematical Modeling as an alternative methodology in the teaching - learning of mathematics", this article is an alternative methodology that enables bringing together theory and practice, based on Constructivist trend in the context of teaching and developing mathematical concepts meaningful to students of Basic Education.
