O objetivo deste estudo foi determinar o crescimento do imbuzeiro (Spondias tuberosa Arruda) em condições de
sequeiro na caatinga até os 10 anos. O estudo foi realizado no perÃodo de janeiro de 1997 a dezembro de 2007
em uma área de caatinga nativa na Estação Experimental da Embrapa Semi-Ãrido no municÃpio de Petrolina, PE.
A altura média das plantas no primeiro e no décimo ano foi de 70,81 e 258,27 cm, respectivamente. O diâmetro
basal e a circunferência do caule ao nÃvel do solo foram, em média, de 10,39 e 35,26 cm, respectivamente. As
plantas apresentaram raÃzes horizontais de 436,17 cm e verticais de 186,45 cm.
The objective of this study was to determine the growth the imbu (Spondias tuberosa Arruda) is a native plants
of the semi-arid region of the Brazilian Northeast, Brazil, and the 10 years. The study was conducted in the
Caatinga Experimental Station, Embrapa Semi-Arid, Petrolina, and Pernambuco State, Brazil during the 1997
and 2007. The average height of the plants in the first one and the tenth year had been of 70.81 and 258.27 cm.
The basal diameter and the circumference of stalk to the level of the ground had been, on average, of 10.39 and
35.26 cm, respectively. The plants had presented horizontal roots of 436.17 cm and vertical of 186.45 cm.
