Este artigo descreve as etapas desenvolvidas na construção do ‘Arquivo Histórico da Corporação de Bombeiros de Pelotas’. O referido Arquivo, tratado no Projeto de Pesquisa de mesmo nome visa mostrar à comunidade pelotense as inúmeras funções inerentes ao modus faciendi dos bombeiros do 2ºsubgrupamento de Combate a Incêndios1 – unidade centenária lotada na Cidade de Pelotas – e assim, contribuir para desenvolver um olhar diferente sobre uma Instituição Oficial que embora nascida para debelar incêndios, proteger vidas e patrimônios, desenvolve outras funções dentro do contexto social, político e econômico no seu espaço de atuação.

Resumo Inglês:

This article describes the steps undertaken in the construction of the 'Historic Archive of the Pelotas Fire Department'. This file, treated in the research project of the same name is intended to show the pelotense community the many functions inherent in the modus faciendi of the firefighters of Second Subgroup of Fire Fighting – Centenary Unit located at the city of Pelotas – and thus, help to develop a different view on an institution that, although born to tackle fires, to protect lives and assets, developed other roles within the social, political and economic context in its area of action.
