Neste artigo pretende-se discutir a profissão do Orientador Educacional no Brasil apresentando o percurso histórico de sua constituição no país e destacando seus princípios de atuação e principais atribuições na escola de Educação Básica. A metodologia utilizada foi a revisão bibliográfica de decretos, leis, livros e artigos considerados referência para os estudos na área. Ao rever a literatura específica observouse que o primórdio da Orientação Educacional no país ocorreu por volta de 1940 e vivenciou transformações significativas até o contexto dos dias atuais. Destaca-se que o trabalho do orientador educacional nas escolas apresenta atribuições e ações a serem desenvolvidas no cotidiano escolar que não podem ser vistas de maneira estática, mas sim, como um processo de transformação contínua, em função da multiplicidade de fatores específicos do trabalho do orientador compreendendo assim esta função como um processo dinâmico, contínuo e sistemático.
In this article it will be discussed the professional role of the Educational Advisor in Brazil, by presenting the historical path of its establishment in the country and highlighting its operating principles and main attributions in the Basic Education School. The methodology used was the bibliographic reviewing of decrees, laws, books and articles considered to be reference for the studies in the area. In the reviewing of the appointed literature it was observed that the beginning of the Educational Orientation in the country occurred around 1940 and went through significant transformations throughout time. It should be emphasized that the role of the educational advisor in schools encompasses attributions and actions to be developed in the daily school life and that cannot be treated as static, but always evolving as a process of continuous transformation, due to the multitude of elements related to the role of the Advisor thus embodying this role in a dynamic, continuous and systematized process.
