A questão da possessão demoníaca e a prática do
exorcismo constituem um tema recorrente na história do
Cristianismo. É o que ocorre em nosso tempo. Igrejas
neopentecostais praticamente dependem, em sua pregação, da
campanha contra a ação de Satanás. Não bastasse isso, também
em igrejas históricas ocorrem situações semelhantes. Para uma
sadia aproximação ao tema, nada melhor do que retornar aos
evangelhos sinóticos e à prática do Jesus histórico, na medida em
que isso é possível. Assim, talvez possamos dar melhores respostas
às nossas interrogações atuais sobre o tema.

The question of demonic possession and the practice
of exorcism are a recurring theme in the history of Christianity.
This is what happens in our time. Charismatic (neopentecostal)
Churches practically depend, in their preaching, on the campaign
against the action of Satan. On top of that, similar situations also
occur in historic churches. For a healthy approach to the subject,
nothing better than returning to the synoptic gospels and to the
practice of the historical Jesus, to the extent that this is possible.
Thus, maybe we can give better answers to our current questions
about the topic.
