Este artigo propõe um estudo sobre a trajetória da vida polÃtica de João Pinheiro da Silva. Um industrial mineiro que desde sua época de estudante era engajado politicamente e a favor da implantação da República, e mais do que isso, ao longo de sua vida polÃtica, passa a defender medidas que levariam ao desenvolvimento econômico do paÃs. Assim, este estudo tem o intuito de apontar aspectos biográficos da vida desse propagandista, e analisar seu discurso, partindo do ponto de vista de que João Pinheiro foi um desenvolvimentista nos primórdios da República, principalmente, quando do seu retorno à cena polÃtica, através da Comissão Fundamental do Congresso AgrÃcola, Industrial e Comercial de 1903 e, posteriormente, como Presidente do Estado de Minas Gerais.
This article considers a study about the trajectory of João Pinheiro da Silva’s politics life. An industrial from Minas Gerais who since his student time was engaged politically and in favor of the implantation of the Republic, and more than that, throughout his politics life, starts to defend measures that would lead to the economic development of the country. Therefore this study has intention to point biographical aspects of the life of this “propagandistaâ€, and to analyze his speech, with main objective that João Pinheiro was in favor of the economic development in the beginning of the Republic, mainly, when of his return to the politician scene, through the Fundamental Commission of the Agricultural, Industrial and Commercial Congress of 1903 and, later, as President of Minas Gerais State.
