Objetivo: Descrever o uso da grade lingual removível como auxiliar no tratamento da mordida aberta esquelética em adulto, através de um relato de caso. Relato de caso: Paciente, sexo feminino, 38 anos, clinicamente apresentava terço inferior facial aumentado, sem assimetria, relação labial deficiente, sem expor os incisivos superiores quando em repouso e sorriso gengival de 3mm ao sorrir. Após análise cefalométrica, foi diagnosticada com mordida aberta esquelética e foi ratificado o padrão face longa. Foi instituído o tratamento com grade lingual removível, o qual não é usualmente adotado em adultos, como coadjuvante no tratamento da mordida aberta esquelética. Conclusão: Considerando o caso relatado, conclui-se que a grade lingual removível é um dispositivo de fácil confecção e foi satisfatório na conduta do tratamento ortodôntico empregado, sendo eficaz na terapêutica da correção da mordida aberta.

Objective: To describe the use of removable lingual grid as an aid in the treatment of skeletal open bite in adult through a case report. Case Report:Patient, female, 38 years old, clinically had an enlarged lower facial third, without asymmetry, poor labial relation, without exposing the upper incisors when resting and gingival smile of 3mm when smiling. After cephalometric analysis, was diagnosed with skeletal open bite and the long face pattern was ratified. Treatment with removable lingual grid was instituted, which is not usually adopted in adults, as a coadjuvant in the treatment of skeletal open bite. Conclusion:Considering the case reported, it is concluded that the removable lingual grid is an easy-to-make device and was satisfactory in the conduct of the orthodontic treatment used, being effective in the therapy of open bite correction.
