Este artigo refere-se à representação da morte através do catolicismo barroco
expressa em excesso de ritos fúnebres acarretando gastos exorbitantes para algumas
pessoas em São LuÃs do Maranhão na década de 40 do século XVIII. Destaca-se ainda o
exemplo de Duarte Pereira Vulcão responsável pelo maior gasto de ritos fúnebres em parte
influência desse catolicismo barroco e em parte um passado de “constrangimentos
familiaresâ€.
This article mentions to it the representation of the death through the express
baroque catholicism in excess of rites funeral causing excessive expenses for some people
in São LuÃs of the Maranhão in the decade of 40 of century XVIII. The example of Duarte
Pereira Vulcão have spoken expense of rites funeral in part influence of this baroque
Catholicism and in part a past of “familiar constraintâ€.
