No entremeio da viagem o mundo se particulariza pelo olhar do viajante. Alfredo Taunay (Visconde de Taunay), constituindo-se viajante a partir da participação no conflito da Guerra da Tríplice Aliança (1864-1870), em Mato Grosso, constrói imagens que carregam a força-motriz do conjunto da sua vasta obra. Este artigo busca compreender as impressões captadas pelo olhar que são utilizadas como signos de uma arte representativa da identidade nacional.

When travelling, the world is particularized by the eye of the traveler.
