Os conflitos entre os poderes no seio da República Brasileira são constantes, por isso necessita-se de um sistema de freios e contrapesos para garantir uma relação harmônica entre eles. Contudo, alguns agentes políticos e doutrinadores levantaram a possibilidade das Forças Armadas exercerem um papel moderador destes conflitos, por isso, o trabalho se dedicou em analisar esta hipótese citada, no qual os institutos da separação dos poderes, poder moderador e funções constitucionais das Forças Armadas foram de maior enfoque. Emprega-se uma pesquisa exploratória e abordagem quantitativa com utilização de um amplo leque bibliográfico para se responder ao problema apresentado. Portanto, a possibilidade de moderação dos conflitos da República pelas Forças Armadas se mostra equivocada em razão da necessidade dos conflitos se regularem, por meio dos freios e contrapesos, da figura do Poder Moderador estar ultrapassada e das funções das Armadas não garantirem tamanha autonomia e estarem subordinadas aos poderes.
The government branches of the brazilian republic are constantly in conflict. For that reason, a checks and balances system is needed to create a harmonic relation between them. Nevertheless, authors and polictical agents bring up the possibility of the military forces having a moderating role in these conflicts. Through exploratory and quantitative approach, the present article focuses on analysing the hypotesis of the military forces having a role as a moderating power of the government branches and what precisely is the function of these forces according to the brazilian constitution. By utilizing vast bibliography, this hypotesis is debunked, given that the checks and balances system is still the best method of regulating the government branches, the moderating power concept is outdated and the military forces are ultimately subordinated to these same branches.
