O enfoque deste artigo é a construção das memórias sobre Henrique Luiz Roessler (1896- 1963), um importante agente pela proteção da natureza no Rio Grande do Sul durante os anos 1930-60. Meu objetivo é compreender como as memórias a respeito de Roessler foram constituídas, por quais agentes e se houve disputas nesse processo. Através da análise de documentação que sobreviveu em arquivos, foi possível constatar que este processo foi iniciado pelo próprio Roessler, ao se autodenominar “pioneiro da proteção à natureza no Rio Grande do Sul”, expressão esta que é transformada por amigos e admiradores, após sua morte, em “pioneiro da ecologia” no Estado.
The focus of this article is the construction of the memories about Henrique Luiz Roessler (1896-1963), an important agent for the protection of nature in Rio Grande do Sul from the 1930s to the 1960s. My goal is to understand how the memories about Roessler were constituted, by what agents, and if there was disputes in this process. Through the analysis of documentation that survived in archives, it was possible to find that this process was initiated by Roessler himself when he deemed himself a “pioneer for the protection of nature in Rio Grande do Sul”. After his death, this expression was transformed by friends and admirers into: the “ecology pioneer” of the State.
