The text supports the interpretation that there is a point at which the subject does not renounce his private judgment and the action corresponding to such judgment. The reasons for that refer either to a psychological impossibility or to the terms defining the social contract. The text supports the second interpretation. Moreover, the defense of such a thesis does not intend to weaken the sovereign’s power to the point that it becomes unstable, nor does it withdraw the absolute character of the sovereign.
