Em 1937, os Estúdios Disney lançam seu primeiro longa-metragem de animação
– Branca de Neve e os Sete Anões. A partir desse momento, foi criada uma imagem
romantizada de princesa, a qual prevê a espera pelo príncipe encantado. Todavia, atentando
para as demandas de uma sociedade que rediscute questões relativas à construção do
gênero, novas representações de princesas surgem nessas animações. Pretendemos, aqui,
nos debruçar sobre a animação Valente (Brave, 2012). Tendo como arcabouço teórico os
estudos de gênero, principalmente a questão da performance, analisaremos as personagens
femininas com a finalidade de compreender de que forma essas são representadas e se há,
portanto, a criação de uma nova imagem de feminino

In 1937, Disney Studios releases its first animated feature film - Snow White and
the Seven Dwarfs. From this moment onwards, a romanticized image of the princess was
established, which stipulates the wait for Prince Charming. However, taking into
consideration demands of a society that rehashes discussions of issues concerning the
construction of gender, new portrayals of princesses are showing up in these animations.
We intend here to study the animation Brave (2012). Using gender studies, especially the
subject of performance, as our theoretical framework, we will analyze the female characters
in order to understand how they are portrayed and, therefore, if the creation of a new image
of what is feminine is taking place.
