O artigo investiga o trato com a temática das imagens na perspectiva da história cultural. Avalia as noções de eucronia e do pensamento por imagens a partir de trabalhos de referência na história cultural no Brasil. O objetivo é reunir apontamentos sobre o status dos estudos de imagem em pesquisas de cunho culturalista frente às reflexões contemporâneas que questionam a historicidade das origens, admitem as dificuldades da empatia e apontam para a inevitável anacronia do olhar interpretativo.

Resumo Inglês:

The paper investigates the treatment of the theme of images from the perspective of cultural history. It evaluates the notions of euchrony and thought through images from reference works in cultural history in Brazil. The goal is to gather notes on the status of imaging studies in culturalist research regarding contemporary reflections which question the historicity of origins, admit the difficulties of empathy and point to the inevitable anachrony of the interpretive look.
