Esta pesquisa , fundamentada nos pressupostos teórico-metodológicos da Sociolinguística Variacionista (LABOV, 2008 [1972]), tem como objetivo investigar o processo de elevação da vogal média /o/, em posição postônica final, na fala em língua portuguesa de moradores da zona rural, descendentes de imigrantes eslavos da cidade de Prudentópolis, Paraná. Foram analisadas 24 entrevistas sociolinguísticas estratificadas por sexo, duas faixas etárias e três níveis de escolaridade, pertencentes ao banco de dados do projeto VARLINFE (Variação Linguística de Fala Eslava). Os dados apontam um baixo índice de elevação da vogal estudada.

This research , based on the theoretical and methodological assumptions of Variationist Sociolinguistics (LABOV, 2008 [1972]), sought to investigate the process of raising the mid vowel /o/ when in a final postonic position, in the Portuguese spoken in rural areas by descendants of Slavic immigrants in the city of Prudentópolis, Paraná. Twenty-four sociolinguistic interviews stratified according to gender, two age ranges and three levels of education, belonging to the database of the project VARLINFE (Variação Linguística de Fala Eslava) were analyzed. The data have indicated a low raising rate for the vowel studied.
