O futebol é conhecido por ser uma das modalidades esportivas mais influentes do mundo, além de sua importância cultural. No Brasil, o esporte é considerado símbolo nacional, sendo notável também suas transações bilionárias. Esse esporte passou a ser explorado também como uma fonte geradora de recursos financeiros. Com a criação da Lei Pelé, em 1998, os clubes passaram a divulgar suas demonstrações contábeis, na busca de transparência e conformidade diante de seus associados. Nesse contexto, o objetivo deste estudo é entender a relação entre a performance dos times, pela conquista ou não de títulos em campeonatos, e sua situação econômica e financeira. Analisou-se os bigfour times do Rio de Janeiro e de São Paulo, no período de 2015 a 2017. Foram delineadas regressões lineares, correlações e análises horizontais no intuito de se comprovar o efeito da relação entre as variáveis. Dentre os principais resultados, demonstrou-se que a associação e significância é praticamente inexistente entre as variáveis selecionadas para o modelo. Em 2015, o Botafogo apesar de não ter conquistado nenhum título, apresentou melhor ROI. Em 2016, o Flamengo apresentou melhor ROI e também não conquistou títulos, o Santos, que conquistou título neste ano, apresentou o melhor índice em relação ao giro dos ativos e o segundo melhor ROI. Em 2017, o Corinthians conquistou títulos, mas demonstrou o menor giro de ativos e menor ROE comparado com os demais times, ao contrário do Botafogo que apresentou o maior giro do ativo, ROI e liquidez de caixa e não conquistou nenhum título.

Football is known for being one of the most influential sports in the world, in addition to its cultural importance. In Brazil, sport is considered a national symbol, and its billion-dollar transactions are also notable. This sport also started to be explored as a source of financial resources. With the creation of the Pelé Law, in 1998, clubs began to disclose their financial statements, seeking transparency and compliance with their members. In this context, the objective of this study is to understand the relationship between the performance of the teams, by winning or not winning titles in championships, and their economic and financial situation. The bigfour teams from Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo were analyzed from 2015 to 2017. Linear regressions, correlations and horizontal analyzes were outlined in order to prove the effect of the relationship between the variables. Among the main results, it was demonstrated that the association and significance is practically non-existent among the variables selected for the model. In 2015, Botafogo, despite not having won any title, presented a better ROI. In 2016, Flamengo presented the best ROI and also did not win titles, Santos, who won the title this year, presented the best index in relation to asset turnover and the second best ROI. In 2017, Corinthians won titles, but showed the lowest turnover of assets and the lowest ROE compared to the other teams, unlike Botafogo which presented the highest turnover of assets, ROI and cash liquidity and did not win any title.
