ANÁLISE DA VIABILIDADE AMBIENTAL DE PRÁTICAS AGROECOLÓGICAS ADOTADAS POR AGRICULTORES FAMILIARES DO MUNICÍPIO DE LAGOA SECA, PARAÍBA

A Agroecologia representa um novo enfoque para o estudo e manejo de sistemas agrícolas alternativos, e oferece um marco teórico cujo fim é analisar os processos agrícolas de uma maneira mais ampla, ou seja, ver a agricultura desde um enfoque sistêmico, destacando a sustentabilidade inerente aos ciclos naturais e às interações biológicas. Práticas alternativas de manejo agrícola têm sido recentemente adotadas por agricultores familiares do município de Lagoa Seca, Paraíba, com a finalidade de proteger o meio ambiente das intensas ações degradantes da agricultura convencional, assim como melhorar a qualidade vida do agricultor. Desta forma, objetivou-se identificar as práticas agroecológicas adotadas pelos agricultores familiares em diferentes estágios de transição, destacando as experiências locais vivenciadas e sua viabilidade ambiental para a região, considerando os princípios da Agroecologia como mecanismo orientador e determinante para tal análise. Para tanto, este estudo foi realizado através de questionário base, observação in loco e da aplicação de entrevista semi-estruturada. Os dados obtidos neste estudo revelaram que as práticas adotadas pelos agricultores agroecológicos de Lagoa Seca proporcionam a conservação do solo, da água e da biota local garantindo a manutenção em longo prazo desses recursos naturais às atuais e futuras gerações, além de promover o aumento da qualidade de vida do agricultor e sua família.

The agroecology represents a new focus to the study and management of alternative agricultural systems, and has offered a theoretical framework whose purpose is to analyze the agricultural processes widely, in other words, see agriculture from a systemic approach, highlighting the sustainability inherent to the natural cycles and biological interactions. Alternative practices of agricultural management has been recently adopted by family farmers in Lagoa Seca city - PB, aiming to protect the environment from the intense degrading actions of the conventional agriculture, as well as to improve the farmers life quality. This way, this study aims to identify the agroecological practices which have been adopted by the family farmers in different transition stages, highlighting the local experiences which were experienced and its environmental viability to the region, considering the agroecology principles as a steering mechanism and determinant for such analysis. Therefore, this study has been performed through a based questionnaire, observation in loco and the application of a semi structured interview. The obtained data through this research have revealed that the adopted practices by agroecological farmers from Lagoa Seca have provided the soil, water and local biota conservation, ensuring the maintenance in long term of these natural resources to the current and future generations, besides to promote an increase in the life quality of the farmers and their families.
