No que tange à educação, em especial à superior, a avaliação institucional é indispensável para aferir a real situação das IES, viabilizando a revisão de medidas administrativas e pedagógicas. Avaliar esses fatores fornece subsídios para a melhoria da qualidade da educação. Dessa forma, o principal propósito do estudo consiste em avaliar os fatores oferecidos pelas universidades federais mineiras para a formação de seus alunos. Para alcance do objetivo utilizou-se a técnica multivariada de análise fatorial, que identificou quatro fatores e posteriormente criou-se um índice. Os resultados indicaram que apesar da amostra ser composta por instituições da mesma categoria e do mesmo estado, há disparidades em relação às condições oferecidas. Essa evidência sugere a necessidades de melhorias nos fatores institucionais relacionados aos cursos e sua contribuição para a formação dos alunos, ao corpo docente e aspectos pedagógicos, bem como dos recursos e da oferta de atividades extracurriculares.

With regard to education, especially higher education, the institutional evaluation is indispensable for assessing the real situation of IESs, making it possible to review administrative and pedagogical measures. Assessing these factors provides a basis for improving the quality of education. Thus, the main purpose of the study is to evaluate the factors offered by the federal universities in Minas Gerais to train their students. To reach the objective, a multivariate factorial analysis technique was used, which identified four factors and an index was later created. The results indicated although the sample is composed of institutions of the same category and of the same state, there are disparities in relation to the conditions offered. This evidence suggests the need for improvements in institutional factors related to the courses and their contribution to the training of students, faculty and pedagogical aspects, as well as resources and the offer of extracurricular activities.
