Este artigo tem como objetivo evidenciar reflexões realizadas na pesquisa de Mestrado em História da Universidade Federal de Pelotas, intitulada: “As Sociedades Teosóficas e a Maçonaria Mista em Pelotas – crença e poder no extremo sul do Brasil (1902-1939)â€. Neste trabalho, são analisados sÃmbolos e emblemas das Sociedades em questão no que refere as formas como se auto representaram e fomentaram questões de identidade e pertencimento na sociedade pelotense do perÃodo. As imagens analisadas, decorrentes de diplomas, fazem parte do acervo do Museu Maçônico Rocco Felippe que salvaguarda, entre outros documentos, um número significativo de dados sobre as instituições. Considerando a importância da história da maçonaria e teosofia para a cidade, e região do extremo sul do Estado, a pesquisa mostra as formas de representação simbólicas da instituição, demonstrando o processo de assimilação e ressignificação.

This article has as objective to evidence reflections carried through in the research of master's degree in History of the Federal University of Pelotas, intitled: “The Theosofical Societies and the Mixed Freemasonry in Pelotas - Belief and power in the south extremity of Brazil (1902-1939)â€. In this work, symbols and emblems of the Societies are analyzed in what it relates the forms as if auto they had represented and they fomented questions of identity and belonging in the pelotense society of the period. The analyzed, decurrent images of diplomas, are part of the collection of Freemasonry Museum Rocco Felippe that safeguards, among others documents, a significant number of data on the institutions. Considering the importance of the history of the freemasonry and theosophia for the city, and region of the south extremity of the State, the research shows to the symbolic forms of representation of the institution, demonstrating the process of assimilation and redefinition.
