The anatomical characteristics of the wood of Celtis pallida Torrey, a small woody shrub, native to the United States and from central Argentina to Rio Grande do Sul are described. The anatomical structure corresponds to that referred to in the literature for the family Ulmaceae , Celtis genus and species previously described on the basis of US samples. The anatomical structure is analyzed from a taxonomic and foligenetic point of view. A botanical description of the species is given, given its rarity in the country.
