The woods of Nectandra lanceolata Ness et Mart are described. ex Ness, Nectandra saligna Ness et Mart. ex Ness and Ocotea puberula Ness, in their general and microscopic aspects. The three species resemble the most important characters reported in the literature for the Lauraceae family . Nectandra lanceolata is easily distinguished by the absence of crystals in the woody tissue, while Nectandra saligna is separated from Ocotea puberula by the abundance of crystals in the rays and by the presence of oil cells in the axial and radial parenchyma
