The general, macroscopic and microscopic characters of the Mimosa scabrella Benth. Wood , as well as the structure of its bark are described. The anatomy of wood is compared with references from literature to related species. The characters observed include vessels with simple perforation plates, alternating stitches and ornaments, paratracheal parenchyma, libriform fibers, homogeneous rays of procumbent cells and the presence of stratification. The structure of the bark is characterized by the expansion of the rays in the middle bark and the hard liber, which forms small groups in the inner bark
