The paper deals with the description of the general, macroscopic and icroscopic features of the wood of Colletia paradoxa (Spreng.) Escalante, a papilio and xerophilous shrub of the Sulriograndian flora. Pores of very small diameter, very short vessels with spiral thickenings and simple perforation plates, unpublished libriform fibers, scarce paratracheal axial parenchyma, and Heterogeneous Type II rays with frequent perforated ray cells were observed. The occurrence of perforated ray cells and the characteristics of vascular elements are discussed based on the plant's eco-physiological aspects and anatomical information from the literature.
