O presente artigo objetiva discutir e refletir sobre a noção de patrimônio cultural enquanto construção social, bem como categoria educativa para a formação dos cidadãos, através da política pública nacional idealizada pelo Iphan (Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional), denominada Educação Patrimonial. Assim, propõem-se alguns questionamentos elementares para compreender os diferentes campos, agentes e interesses vinculados ao Patrimônio Cultural Brasileiro, tais como: a noção de cultura para o senso comum e para a Antropologia; o que vem a ser o Patrimônio Cultural; a contribuição da Antropologia no campo patrimonial; o que é a Educação Patrimonial e qual o seu papel como ação educativa para proteger e preservar o Patrimônio Cultural Material e Imaterial Nacional.

This article aims to discuss and reflect about the notion of cultural heritage as social construction, as well as educational category to formation of citizens, through the National Public Policy idealised by Iphan (Historical and Artistical National Heritage Institute), called Patrimonial Education. Thus, some elementary questionings are proposed in order to understand the different fields, agents and interests that are linked to the Brazilian Cultural Heritage such as: the notion of culture for common sense and for anthropology; the meaning of cultural heritage; the contribution of anthropology into the patrimonial field; What heritage education is; and what is its hole as an educational action to protect and preserve the tangible and intangible national cultural heritage.
