In this paper theoretical foundations of a student centered teaching model are introduced.
The main objective of the model is to develop in students a Basic Culture that, in School
Mathematics, consists of a mathematical thinking, mainly in its deductive aspect; problem
solving skills, through mathematical modeling; and the use of technology, mainly Dynamic
Geometry software, CAS calculators, and Internet. Another relevant aspect of this model is the
fostering in students of positive attitudes not only toward mathematics, but in daily life
situations; and the fostering of positive human values. All this in a suitable Teaching
Environment. Activity examples with Sketchpad are presented.
En este artÃculo se presentan los fundamentos teóricos de un modelo de enseñanza
centrado en el estudiante. El modelo tiene como objetivo desarrollar en el estudiante lo que se
ha denominado una Cultura Básica que, en el contexto de la matemática escolar, consiste en
un pensamiento matemático, especialmente en su aspecto deductivo; habilidades de resolución
de problemas, esto mediante la modelación matemática; y el uso de tecnologÃa, principalmente
software de GeometrÃa Dinámica, calculadoras analÃticas e Internet. Otro aspecto importante
del modelo es el fomento en los estudiantes de actitudes positivas, no sólo con respecto al
quehacer matemático, sino ante situaciones cotidianas, y de valores humanos. Todo esto en un
Medio Ambiente de Enseñanza adecuado. Se presentan ejemplos de actividades con Sketchpad.
