APUNTES SOBRE LA AFECTIVIDAD, LAS EMOCIONES Y SU RELACIÓN CON LA MORALIDAD

The problem of affection, or of oneself being able to affect from emotions, presents a difficult framework that we believe must be considered to begin rethinking the validity of the discussion on this subject; or, the validity of the debate on the nature of affectivity and emotions. However, as it’s a long-term historical problem, for reasons of length, in this article we propose to explain and discuss only a part of this framework, considering authors that we trust have treated the subject matter rigorously and on the basis of the relationship between emotion and morality: Plato and Aristotle, to begin the subject from their thesis about the being and the emotionality; David Hume, for being the one who challenged the idea of rationality of virtue, proposing the consideration of emotions and feelings as foundations of morality; Jean Paul Sartre, for offering us the discussion on the descriptive character of emotion, as a way of understanding our being-in-the-world. We consider the reflections of these thinkers as an important source of approach to the subject.

El problema de la afectividad, o del ser capaz de afectarse a partir de las emociones, presenta un difícil entramado que creemos se debe considerar para comenzar a repensar la validez de la discusión sobre la materia; o bien, la validez del debate sobre la naturaleza de la afectividad y de las emociones. No obstante, como se trata de un problema histórico de larga trayectoria, por motivos de extensión, en este artículo nos proponemos explicar y discutir solo una parte de este entramado, considerando autores que confiamos han tratado la temática de manera rigurosa y sobre la base de la relación entre emoción y moralidad: a Platón y Aristóteles, por iniciar el tema a partir de sus tesis sobre el ser y la emotividad; a David Hume, por ser aquel que desafió la idea de racionalidad de la virtud proponiendo la consideración de las emociones y sentimientos como fundamentos de la moralidad; a Jean Paul Sartre, por ofrecernos la discusión sobre el carácter descriptivo de la emoción, como una forma de entender nuestro ser-en-el-mundo. Pensamos que las reflexiones de estos pensadores son una importante fuente de aproximación a la temática.
