Este ensaio aborda relações raciais, de gênero e sexualidade em manifestações artísticas realizadas por criadora/es brasileira/os que se auto definem como ‘não-binário/as’ ou trans e que demarcam de forma bastante presente estes pertencimentos e posições subjetivas em suas criações. Ao analisar expressões artísticas destes criadores busco avaliar a possibilidade de consideramos o não-binarismo ou mesmo a queerness em práticas artísticas realizadas no Brasil a partir de uma pergunta: existiria ‘Arte Queer’ no país? Estas relações se manifestam tensamente nos processos criativos da/os artistas analisados e tornam-se maneiras interessantes para pensar sobre as manifestações ‘não-binárias’ e trans no Brasil.
This essay addresses race relations, gender and sexuality in artistic practices fashioned by Brazilian creators who define themselves as non-binary or trans persons and who also express quite well these subjective identity positions into their art creations. By analyzing the artistic expressions of these creators, I seek ponder the possibility of recognizing non-binary traits or even queerness, as categories, in artistic practices held in the country, starting from the following question: there would be the possibility a ‘Queer Art’ in Brazil? These relationships manifest themselves tautly in the creative processes of the artists discussed here and become interesting ways in which we can start to think about the non-binary and trans expressions in Brazilian social contexts.
