Resumo Inglês:

The first references to the presence of Equisetopsida related to Asterophyllites by HARTT, 1870 (in LIAIS, 1872 and ARBER, 1905) were made when the paleoflorous studies associated with carboniferous deposits began in Brazil during the eighteenth century .

For Rio Grande do Sul the first citation of articulations is made by LUNDQUIST (1919), bound by its characteristics to Schizoneura gondwanensis Feistmantel (1880). BARBOSA (1958) cites Phyllotheca sp. as an element present in the Gondwana of Rio Grande do Sul, not being cited the source of information on which the registry was based. TOWNROW (1955), according to references made by HIRMER (1927), refers to the presence of  Phyllotheca australis  Brongniart (1828) in carboniferous-pernial sediments of Brazil.
