O artigo investiga as Associações de Pacientes de Cannabis (APCs) no Brasil, focando em seu papel na democratização do acesso à saúde e na luta por direitos. O objetivo é mapear a presença, características e funcionamento dessas associações. A pesquisa utiliza uma metodologia mista, com coleta de dados quantitativos e qualitativos por meio de um survey online respondido por 61 APCs. A análise é baseada no referencial teórico sobre associativismo democrático e regulação da cannabis. Os resultados mostram uma diversidade de práticas, desafios legais, estruturais e de estigmatização enfrentados pelas APCs. Além de fornecer produtos medicinais, essas associações promovem educação, apoio jurídico e advocacy para a regulamentação da cannabis com fins terapêuticos. O artigo conclui que as APCs desempenham um papel crucial na inclusão social e na transformação das políticas públicas de saúde, apesar das desigualdades regionais e do ambiente jurídico restritivo.
This article investigates Cannabis Patient Associations (CPAs) in Brazil, focusing on their role in democratizing access to healthcare and fighting for rights. The objective is to map the presence, characteristics, and functioning of these associations. The research uses a mixed methodology, collecting quantitative and qualitative data through an online survey answered by 61 CPAs. The analysis is based on the theoretical framework of democratic associativism and cannabis regulation. The results show a diversity of practices, legal, structural, and stigmatization challenges faced by CPAs. In addition to providing medicinal products, these associations promote education, legal support, and advocacy for the regulation of cannabis for therapeutic purposes. The article concludes that CPAs play a crucial role in social inclusion and the transformation of public health policies, despite regional inequalities and a restrictive legal environment.
