Discute-se no presente artigo as múltiplas dimensões que articulam o universo do trabalho com as vivências urbanas de carroceiros e cocheiros, inquirindo acerca de suas condições de vida, trabalho e mobilizações na cidade de Manaus. Entre os anos de 1884 – 1925, os trabalhadores realizaram treze greves que revelam a sua atuação no cenário político e urbano. Acreditamos que por meio da exposição de suas manifestações, podemos contribuir para que a história social do trabalho na Amazônia continue sendo debatida no âmbito universitário que visa dialogar e mostrar os trabalhadores em seus diversificados âmbitos. Saliento que não é objetivo desse artigo abordar sobre todas as greves, até em cumprimento das regras estabelecidas, mas pretendo explanar sobre algumas mobilizações – seja articulações paredistas, sindicais ou cotidianas – dos cocheiros e carroceiros na cidade.
This article discusses the multiple dimensions that articulate the universe of work with the urban experiences of cartwrights and coachmen, inquiring about their conditions of life, work and mobilizations in the city of Manaus. Between the years of 1884-1925, the workers carried out thirteen strikes that reveal their action in the political and urban. We believe that through the exhibition of its manifestations, we can contribute to the social history of work in the Amazon continue to be debated in the university scope that aims to dialogue and show workers in their diverse spheres. I emphasize that it is not the purpose of this article to address all strikes, even in compliance with established rules, but I intend to explain some of the mobilizations, whether from the walls, the trade unions or the daily life, of the cartwright and coachmen in the city.
