O consumo indiscriminado de Medicamentos Isentos de Prescrição (MIPs) vem causando um aumento expressivo nos casos de intoxicações hepáticas. No Brasil, o SINITOX (Sistema Nacional de Informação Tóxico-Farmacológicas) registrou que 36,05% dos casos de intoxicação foram causados por medicamentos. A sobrecarga de medicamentos metabolizados no fígado pode causar hepatotoxicidade e acarretar em lesões hepáticas. Para evitar o uso indiscriminado desses medicamentos e a ocorrência de reações adversas, torna-se importante o papel do profissional farmacêutico na avaliação das prescrições e orientações aos pacientes. A Atenção farmacêutica tem papel fundamental na farmacoterapia, de modo a melhorar a qualidade de vida do paciente, minimizando as reações adversas e garantindo a eficácia e adesão ao tratamento. É fundamental que o profissional farmacêutico ocupe seu espaço e não se limite a ser apenas um comerciante de medicamentos. Neste sentido, o presente trabalho tem como objetivo ressaltar a importância da Atenção Farmacêutica para monitorar o paciente e reduzir os efeitos colaterais e possíveis lesões hepatotóxicas causadas por medicamentos. Para a realização da pesquisa foi realizada uma revisão bibliográfica sobre o tema de Atenção Farmacêutica no tratamento farmacológico com medicamentos hepatotóxicos por meio de livros, dados eletrônicos, textos e artigos do período de 1999 a 2019.
The indiscriminate use of Over-the-Counter Medications (OTCs) has been causing a significant increase in cases of liver poisoning. In Brazil, SINITOX (National System of Toxic-Pharmacological Information) reported that 36.05% of cases of poisoning were caused by medications. The overload of medications metabolized in the liver can cause hepatotoxicity and lead to liver damage. To avoid the indiscriminate use of these medications and the occurrence of adverse reactions, the role of the pharmacist in evaluating prescriptions and providing guidance to patients becomes important. Pharmaceutical care plays a fundamental role in pharmacotherapy, in order to improve the patient's quality of life, minimizing adverse reactions and ensuring efficacy and adherence to treatment. It is essential that the pharmacist occupies his/her space and is not limited to being just a drug dealer. In this sense, this study aims to emphasize the importance of Pharmaceutical Care in monitoring the patient and reducing side effects and possible hepatotoxic damage caused by medications. To carry out the research, a bibliographic review was carried out on the topic of Pharmaceutical Care in pharmacological treatment with hepatotoxic drugs through books, electronic data, texts and articles from the period 1999 to 2019.
