A automedicação conceitua-se como uma prática de tratamento de sinais e sintomas por meio da utilização de medicamentos sem prescrição médica. Neste estudo, foi desenvolvido um questionário para acadêmicos de medicina dos terceiro e oitavo períodos do Centro Universitário São Lucas, com o objetivo de avaliar se há diferença no grau de automedicação entre os estudantes que já cursaram farmacologia e os que ainda não cursaram, verificando, desta forma, quais os analgésicos mais utilizados pelos estudantes e os potenciais riscos do uso crônico. Diante desta temática, foi entrevistada uma população de 56 acadêmicos dos terceiro e oitavo períodos, nos quais 100% conheciam a definição de automedicação. Com relação ao conhecimento sobre o medicamento por meio da leitura da bula, os acadêmicos do oitavo período mostraram mais disposição para lê-la, comparativamente aos do terceiro. Sobre a ida ao médico em caso de dor, a maioria dos acadêmicos dos dois períodos mostrou-se avessa a esta prática. Quanto à indicação do medicamento, a maioria dos alunos do terceiro período é influenciada pela família, enquanto os do oitavo tomam por conta própria. A respeito das reações adversas, a maioria da população dos dois grupos mostrou-se não sofrer com tal problemática. Ao avaliar os analgésicos mais utilizados pelos alunos que se automedicam, o resultado foi: Dipirona, Paracetamol e Dorflex®. Por fim, ao analisar sobre as patologias que mais levam à prática abordada, o resultado foi: cefaleia, dores musculares e cólicas.

Self - medication  is  conceptualized  as  a  practice  of  treatment  of  signs and  symptoms  through the  use  of  non - prescription  medicines.  In  this study,  a  questionnaire  was  developed to medical  students for third and eighth period of São Lucas University Center with the objective to evaluate if there is a difference in the  degree  of  self - medication  among  students who  have  already  studied  pharmacology  and  those  who  have not studiedyet, in this way, which analgesics are most used by students and the potential risks of chronic use. In this context, a population of 56 students of third and eighth period was interviewed, in which 100% knew the  definition of  self - medication.  Regarding  the  knowledge  about  the  medicine through  the  reading  of  the package insert, the eighth period students were more willing to read it compared to the third period. About go to  the  doctor in  case  of  pain,  the  majority  of  the  academics  of  the  two  periods showed aversion  to  this practice.  Regarding  the  indication  of  the medicine,  the  majority  of  the  students  of  the  third  period  is influencedby  the  family,  whereas  those  of  the  eighth  period  take  on  their  own.  Regarding  the  adverse reactions, the majority of the population of the two groups showed not to suffer with such problematic. When evaluating the analgesics most used by students who self - medicate, the result was Dipirone, Paracetamol and Dorflex.  Finally,  when  analyzing  the pathologies  that  most  lead  to  the practice  addressed  the  result  was: headache, muscle pain and cramps.
