This paper provides an overview of the evolution of Galician lexicography during the last four decades. Its starting point is the impetus and reorientation experienced by Galician linguistics and lexicography in particular in the early years of the 1980s as a result of the formalisation of Galician. The impact and influence of the Vocabulario Ortográfico da Lingua Galega (VOLG) (1988) on subsequent lexicographical production is then analysed, and advances in monolingual, bilingual and multilingual lexicography, as well as terminography, examined. Some of the major digital resources created in recent years are also presented, with special focus on the lexicographical corpus and the corpora of contemporary texts. Finally, some of the tasks and challenges faced by Galician lexicography in the near future are identified.
