The aim of this paper is to analyze if firms of the agricultural located in the municipalities of central Sonora México, impose entry barriers (BE) as a strategic behavior (CE). Methodology. A survey to informants of 32 firms of the agricultural sector was applied; the obtained data were used to make a hierarchical grouping and three groups of firms were defined according to BE identified. Results. Three groups of firms and thirteen BE imposed by firms in the agricultural sector were identified. Conclusions. The use of CE by the incumbent firms is considered BE, mainly those related with absolute costs, land concentration and vertical and horizontal integration. Based on the performed analysis, it is estimated that land concentration will become in the main BE, due to the intensive use of natural resources.
Resumo Espanhol:
El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar si las firmas del sector agrícola localizadas en el noroeste de México imponen barreras a la entrada (BE) como conducta estratégica (CE). Metodología: Se aplicó una encuesta a 32 informantes de firmas del sector agrícola y, a partir de la información obtenida se procedió a realizar un agrupamiento jerárquico que permitió ubicar tres grupos de firmas según las BE identificadas. Resultados: Se identificaron tres grupos y trece barreras a la entrada impuestas por las firmas del sector agrícola. Conclusiones. El uso de CE por parte de las firmas establecidas sí constituye barreras a la entrada, principalmente las relativas a costos absolutos, acaparamiento de tierras e integración vertical y horizontal. Con base en el análisis realizado, el acaparamiento de tierras se convertirá en un futuro en la principal BE, debido al uso intensivo de los recursos naturales.
