O artigo procura investigar as expectativas de Tocqueville quanto ao triunfo da liberdade no estado social de igualdade, a partir de sua filiação com a ideologia germanista, desenvolvida durante a “querela das duas raçasâ€. Pretende-se relacionar a concepção tocquevilliana de liberdade à quela formulada por Boulainvilliers, ainda no inÃcio do século XViii, e reinterpretada por Mably, já no contexto Pré-revolucionário.
The present article aims to analyze tocqueville’s expectations concerning the triumph of liberty in the social state of equality. this analysis considers the author’s proximity with the germanist ideology developed during the “the quarrel of the two racesâ€. it is intended to relate tocquevillian conception of freedom to Boulainvilliers’ one, which has been formulated in the beginning of XViiith century and reinterpretated by Mably in the pre-revolutionary context.
