O artigo procura abordar as questões mais pertinentes em relação ao diálogo existente entre a história política e a história da família. Neste sentido ressalta as diversas relações familiares que integram a Câmara Municipal da cidade de Juiz de Fora no período de 1883 a 1889 e o seu significado no estabelecimento das redes de poder da região circunvizinha à cidade.

The article addresses the most pertinent issues relating to the dialogue between political history and the history of the family. It analyzes the origins of the families that dominated local politics since the granting of land allotments. From this data emerge the diverse kinship relationships of these families, the way they were integrated on the municipal chamber of Juiz de Fora between 1853 and 1889 and their significance in the establishment of power networks in the region surrounding the city.
