Pretende-se registrar marcas da formação de Brasília (construída e inaugurada em 1960, no sertão do Centro-Oeste brasileiro), no processo de formação histórica, cultural, artística e literária da Região. Buscam-se referências na literatura e na história brasileiras – especialmente nas que se referem à ideia de sertão, e nas que tratam dos processos de mudança da capital. Entre essas referências, destacam-se anotações feitas durante explorações pelo Sudeste Goiano, no âmbito da Comissão de Estudos para Localização da Nova Capital do Brasil, em 1947 e 1948, pelo agrônomo Antônio de Arruda Câmara e por Guiomar de Arruda Câmara - respectivamente em crônicas e no Diário de Campo, e em cartas à sua filha Joanna de Arruda Câmara. Observa-se que o caráter afetivo das informações traz expressiva contribuição ao Conhecimento (Antônio e Guiomar são avós da autora); que as histórias contadas oralmente, ou em crônicas e diários de campo, e em cartas, são documentos essenciais para a reconstrução de caminhos; e, a partir dessas memórias, que a interiorização da capital desempenha papel importante na imagem que foi sendo construída do Centro-Oeste brasileiro.

We intend to register milestones in the creation of Brasilia (built and opened in 1960 in the hinterlands of Central-Western Brazil), within the historical, artistic-cultural and literary processes of the CentralWestern region. We seek references in literature and from Brazilian history – especially in what concerns the idea of what “sertão” (hinterland) is – and about the processes which led to the moving and placing of the new capital. Among those, we highlight notes made during explorations through the Goiano Southwest in the framework of the Study Commission for the Placing of the New Capital of Brazil, in 1947 and 1948, by the agronomist engineers Antônio de Arruda Câmara and Guiomar de Arruda Câmara, respectively, in chronicles and field diary, as well as letters addressed to their daughter, Joanna de Arruda Câmara. We note that the affective features of the information (Antônio and Guiomar are the author’s grandparents), bring important contributions to the knowledge of it all; the stories told orally, through chronicles, field diaries or letters are essential documents for the reconstruction of the ways in the process; and it is from these memories that the image of the placing of the new capital in the Brazilian hinterlands plays a significant role.
