O historiador Moysés Vellinho apresentou concepções historiográficas polêmicas acerca da formação do Rio Grande do Sul, conforme o próprio autor deixa claro. Primando pelo elemento português na figura do bandeirante, justificando o apresamento de indígenas pela ação daquele último e, ainda, criticando as Missões Jesuíticas de forma veemente, o autor corroborou com o que defendia a matriz dominante da historiografia, na figura do IHGRGS e IHGB. Analisaremos estes e outros aspectos, ambos presentes na obra Capitania d’El Rey, publicada pelo autor em 1964.
The historian Moysés Vellinho presented controversial conceptions about the formation of Rio Grande do Sul. Primarily by the Portuguese element in the figure of the bandeirante, justifying the capture of natives by the action of the latter and still criticizing the missions vehemently, the author corroborated with what he defended the dominant matrix of historiography, in the figure of the IHGRGS and IHGB. We will analyze these and other aspects, both present in the work Capitania d'El Rey, published by the author in 1964.
