The Land Use model in the Cerrado Biome underwent major changes from the 1970s onwards, making it clear that after implementing programs and government policy plans, incentives were given to transform these scenarios. Thus, the present research had as objective to verify the changes in land use in the basin of contribution of the reservoir of the Salto do Rio Verdinho Hydroelectric Plant (HPP), in order to identify the changes occurred before and after the construction of the hydroelectric project in question. The evaluation of the use and occupation was carried out in three different periods (in the years 2005, 2010 and 2015). The mapping of Land Use was elaborated with support of geoprocessing techniques, using the supervised classification, using the MaxVer classifier. To evaluate the quality of the mappings, the kappa coefficient was applied. It is concluded that in the last 15 years the landscape of the basin has changed, where pastures predominate with 55% (543 km²) of the mapped area in 2015, but already occupied 82% (806 km²) in the year 2005. The changes occurred mainly by converting pasture areas into agricultural areas, due to the expansion of sugarcane activity in 2015. The implantation of the artificial lake for hydroelectric power production was another factor that changed land use, and consequently caused the elimination of areas of APPs near the reservoir
